The Story Behind Glowing by Leah

Glowing by Leah didn't start when I opened my clinic. It started years before that.

Growing up, I loved performing. Singing and acting were a huge part of my life, and being on stage was something I genuinely enjoyed. But behind the scenes, I carried an insecurity that slowly became bigger than my confidence. On top of that, i had a eating disorder which was well out of control. 

For as long as I can remember, I was incredibly self-conscious about my mouth and my body, i neglected it. I hated how it looked in photographs and would instinctively cover my mouth and wear baggy clothing. Even when I was performing, going out or posing for a photo, I found myself worrying about how I looked rather than simply enjoying the moment.

What should have been some of my happiest memories were often overshadowed by how self-conscious I felt.

As I grew older and became a Registered Nurse, my focus shifted towards caring for other people. I loved helping patients and making a difference to their lives, but I still carried those same insecurities with me and i was so unhappy with how i felt inside and outside.

Eventually, I decided to have lip augmentation and started working on myself through fitness and wellbeing. 

It wasn't because I wanted bigger lips or to look like someone else. I simply wanted to soften the feature that had affected my confidence for so many years and work on how i felt when i looked in the mirror.

The change wasn't dramatic, but how it made me feel was. 

For the first time in years, I smiled without thinking about my mouth. I stopped covering my face when I laughed and bought that dress that was slightly tighter. I felt comfortable standing in front of a camera again. Most importantly, I felt like myself.

Those experiences completely changed my perspective on aesthetics and through the treatments i had to help change this for myself was life changing. 

I realised it wasn't about changing the way someone looks.

It was about changing the way someone feels.

It gave me a confidence I hadn't realised I'd been missing, and it made me understand the incredible impact aesthetic medicine and wellbeing can have when it's done for the right reasons.

That moment became the beginning of everything.

It inspired me to combine my nursing career with medical aesthetics, creating a clinic where every patient is treated with honesty, compassion and an understanding that confidence isn't vanity.

It's life-changing.

My own journey taught me something I'll never forget.

Confidence changes everything.

When people hear the words medical aesthetics, they often think about fillers, anti-wrinkle injections or cosmetic procedures. I see something very different.

I see the woman who avoids having her photograph taken because she no longer recognises herself.

I see the person who has spent years feeling self-conscious about one feature that nobody else even notices.

I see the new mum who has forgotten how to prioritise herself.

I see the patient whose confidence has been affected by illness, stress, ageing or menopause.

Because I've been that person.

I know what it feels like to focus on the one thing you wish you could change. I know what it feels like to hide behind your hand when you laugh or dread seeing yourself in photographs.

That's why I never see my patients as treatments.

I see people.

People with stories.

People with insecurities.

People who simply want to feel like themselves again.

For me, aesthetics has never been about making people look different.

It's about helping them rediscover the confidence they've always had.

Every consultation starts with listening. Understanding. Educating.

Only then do we create a plan together.

I often say that I became my own first patient.

Because of that, I'll never forget what it feels like to sit on the other side of the consultation.

I know how vulnerable it feels.

I know how nerve-racking it can be.

I know how much courage it takes to book that first appointment.

That experience shapes every consultation I have.

When someone sits in front of me, I don't just see the treatment they've booked.

I want to understand who they are.

How they've been feeling.

What's affecting their confidence.

What they want to achieve.

Sometimes those conversations last longer than the treatment itself.

And that's exactly how I want it to be.

I'm a perfectionist by nature and I'm obsessed with learning. I believe my patients deserve the safest treatments, backed by the latest evidence, technology and education.

That's why I continually invest in training across the UK and internationally, introducing advanced techniques, ultrasound-guided aesthetics, regenerative medicine and the very latest innovations into the clinic.

Every decision I make starts with one simple question:

"Is this the very best thing I can offer my patients?"

Because when someone trusts me with their face, their confidence and their wellbeing, I never take that responsibility lightly.

I never wanted Glowing by Leah to become just another one.

From the very beginning, my vision has been to build a clinic that puts people before procedures.

If I don't believe a treatment is right for someone, I'll say so.

If I think waiting will produce a better outcome, I'll recommend waiting.

If another practitioner is better suited to help, I'll tell my patient.

Because I'd rather build trust for life than carry out one treatment for the wrong reasons.

As Glowing by Leah has grown, one thing has become incredibly important to me, protecting the values that the clinic was built on.

The team around me hasn't simply joined a business.

They've become part of a shared vision, and they have been selected very carefully.

I want us to expand into carefully selected locations without ever losing the personalised experience we're known for.

I want to introduce innovative regenerative medicine and wellness therapies that improve not only how people look, but how they feel.

I want to launch our own carefully curated skincare and wellness products that reflect the same quality, integrity and science-led approach we apply to every treatment we offer.

I want to continue educating practitioners, speaking nationally and internationally, helping raise standards throughout our industry and inspiring others to practise ethically and safely.

Most importantly, I want Glowing by Leah to become a trusted household name, a brand people instantly associate with honesty, expertise, kindness and exceptional patient care.
